Home was flat for too long so I decided to leave a little earlier than planned to search for waves on the West Coast. Luke and I stayed with our friends, the Kenworthys, in their motorhome in the backyard. It was epic! They are a big family with five beautiful kids. It was so much fun being apart of their everyday life. Between surfing all day, watching them skate, tie dying, making clothes out of pillow cases, coloring, playing kitchen, singing to Moana, eating pizza, changing diapers, going to Chuck E Cheese... there was never a dull moment.
Competed in the Supergirl Paul Mitchell Pro at Oceanside over the weekend. Felt good to put on a jersey, wipe off the cobwebs from the time off and work through any nerves before the Open. The conditions were really fun for my first heat and gave me the opportunity to open up and try some different maneuvers I've been working on. I ended up landing two air reverses in twenty five minutes! It was a huge moment for me. I ended up losing the next heat but it didn't matter. I was and still am so stoked!
Now settled in at the Pasea, Huntington Beach waiting for a start to the US Open tomorrow morning. I'll be first heat of the day. Most swell we've had for this comp in years so should be exciting. Wish me luck!
